ABSI Connect (Alberta Social Innovation Connect) is seeking an organized, self-motivated individual to coordinate our programs, activities, partnerships, and communications.  This is a one-year maternity leave position

The Position: Interim ABSI Connect Facilitator 

Reports to: Director, Institute for Community Prosperity at Mount Royal University

Type: Full time, 12-month maternity leave replacement position

Location: Anywhere in Alberta

Position Start Date: May 4

*Please note: the posting defaults to “Main MRU Campus” as the Calgary location, but this position can be held from anywhere in the province (with travel to various Albertan communities as needed). 

About the Role

Supported by an advisory group composed of members of the academic, nonprofit, and public sectors, the ABSI Connect’s Facilitator plays a key role in deepening and advancing ABSI Connect’s network, reach, and impact. The Facilitator will do this through:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including but not limited to ABSI Connect’s advisors and network weavers, partners at Social Innovation Canada, and changemakers across Alberta.

  • Coordinating ABSI Connect’s pilot Community Catalyst Program, including supporting and communicating with participants, organizing in-person and online meetings for the cohort, and documenting lessons learned to inform future iterations of the program.      

  • Overseeing and creating ABSI Connect’s communications (newsletter, podcast, blog posts, online and in-person presentations).

  • Reporting to existing funders and pursuing new funding opportunities to deepen / expand ABSI Connect’s work.

This position is financially supported by the Suncor Energy Foundation and housed administratively as a project of the Institute for Community Prosperity at Mount Royal University. For Human Resources, budgetary and financial matters, the Facilitator reports to (and works closely with) the Director of the Institute for Community Prosperity at MRU.

Alberta Social Innovation (ABSI) Connect is a collaborative initiative aiming to find, connect, celebrate, and support Albertans who are creating and testing new ways of approaching society’s most pressing problems. With active participation from members of the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, ABSI Connect provides a shared platform for accelerating systems change and social innovation work in Alberta. We serve and support changemakers by:

  • Connecting - people to people, organizations to organizations, people to opportunities (e.g. through meetings, events, online convenings and webinars)
