tansi! I am a 27 year-old queer nêhiyaw from Driftpile Cree Nation (Treaty 8) living on Treaty 6 territory in amiskwacîwâskahikan. With a Bachelor of Arts in Critical Indigenous Studies and Political Science from the University of British Columbia - Point Grey Campus, I have a background in community based research from an Indigenous perspective that I use in my work and volunteering for the housing/homelessness and poverty reduction sector. In these spaces I work hard to ensure that responses to social issues consider the unique needs and rights of Indigenous and LGBTQ2S+ communities. I have experience in community engagement practices, community-based research, engaging voices with lived experience, system planning, and human-centered design. I also spend a fair bit of time thinking critically about social innovation!
Matt is a Network Weaver because…
I enjoy learning about all the amazing work happening in my community, and appreciate the opportunity to expand not only my professional network of peers, but to meaningfully engage in conversation, recommendations, and critical thought to make all our work even better! I hope that through this network, we can find approaches that match the diversity of our communities and ensure marginalized voices get to be apart of social innovation too!
